For Vishwatej Nath, food was at the center of everything. His father owned a catering business, his grandmother cooked hearty, nostalgic dishes for him and his family as a child, and his brother grew to be a notable chef in India. But for Nath, an aspiring chef himself, everything changed when he won a local pastry competition in his hometown of Hyderabad, India. Eager to start a career in the kitchen and find a way to work in the United States, Nath earned a hotel management degree from Institut Hôtelier César Ritz in Le Bouveret, Switzerland, and then completed his culinary training in Geneva.
When Nath relocated to the United States, he worked his way around the country, honing his skills as the executive sous chef and banquet chef at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort and as sous chef at the Boca Bay Pass Club in Boca Grande, Florida. He worked on the pastry and baking teams at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas before taking on the role of executive chef of Vail Resorts Management Company. At the height of his leadership, Nath was responsible for four resorts in Grand Teton National Park, producing 12,000 meals a day and managing a brigade of 250.
In October 2015, Nath moved across the country and began a new chapter with Sage Hospitality Group and Urban Farmer, a seasonal, farm-to-table steakhouse in the Westin Cleveland Downtown. After four years as executive chef, he moved to Crestline Hotels & Resorts as director of food and beverage. Then, in 2021, he joined the team at Delaware North, where he now helms the culinary department as executive chef of Cleveland's Progressive Field—home of the Cleveland Guardians—bringing his years of impressive culinary and leadership experience to the ballpark and overseeing the premium club spaces, suites, catering, and concessions for its thousands of daily guests.
