LOS ANGELES (September 25, 2008) - Michel Richard announced today the appointment of Omri Aflalo as Chef de Cuisine at his new Hollywood restaurant, Citrus at Social. Aflalo, who has been working as sous chef at Citrus at Social, assumes the chef de cuisine position from Remi Lauvand. Dedicated to flawlessly executing Michel Richard's whimsical culinary technique and enhancing the Citrus at Social dining experience, Aflalo brings tremendous energy and passion to Richard's Hollywood reincarnation.

"I am very happy to have this talented young man with me again at Citrus," said Michel Richard, Executive Chef of Citrus at Social. "He worked with me for three years at Citronelle and I feel good having someone in my kitchen that I can whole-heartedly trust. Omri is a wonderful chef."

Citrus at Social, which opened in February 2008, perfectly illustrates the world of Michel Richard. From the moment you walk into the restaurant, the vibrant lemon and lime-hued dcor envelops you into the lifelong romance that Richard has always had with fine cuisine. Recognized for his playful and whimsical approach to fine dining, Richard's signature culinary style drives the menu at Citrus at Social through Aflalo's own interpretation as he draws upon his three years under Michel's tutelage at Citronelle and his experience at some of the country's best restaurants.

Aflalo got his first taste of a restaurant kitchen at the Autumn Moon Caf in Oakland, CA while he was still in high school and instantly fell in love with cooking. After a chef told him had finesse for food and should pursue it professionally, Aflalo left for New York to study at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. After his studies, Aflalo received an externship to train under Chef Michael Mina at his San Francisco restaurant Aqua. Eager to learn more, he traveled abroad and studied under Chef Jean Michel Bouvier at Michelin-starred L'Essentiel in Chambry, France, Chef Benoit Gerersdorf at Nero Bianco in Belgium and spent his free time traveling and eating throughout Spain. Aflalo left Europe for the opportunity to join Citronelle in 2004, where he rose up the ranks to sous chef working closely alongside Michel Richard and Citronelle Chef de Cuisine David Deshaies. After a few years in Washington, DC he began to miss the salty ocean breeze of the Pacific and moved back to the Bay Area in 2007 to join Restaurant Gary Danko as chef tournant.

Soon after Michel Richard and Jeffrey Chodorow opened Citrus at Social in Hollywood, Aflalo joined the ranks of the Citrus kitchen as sous chef. Richard saw in Aflalo an ambitious young talent who was loyal and dedicated to his art. Aflalo's dedication to perfection and innovation mirrors that of Michel Richard's vision.

"I love working for Michel because of the passion and love that goes into his food," Aflalo said of Michel Richard. "When you dine at Citrus at Social it is a special experience and we want our guests to feel the love that goes into our food."
