July 10, 2018 – NEW YORK, NY – On Wednesday, July 11 Chef Jonathan Benno will open Leonelli Focacceria e Pasticceria, a bakery and café inspired by the great bakeries of Rome and New York’s rich history of Italian-American pastry shops. Open from morning to early evening, the menu features house-baked focaccia, focaccia sandwiches, soups, and salads, as well as a selection of Italian pastries, cookies, and confections. Beverages include a variety of coffee drinks, teas, espresso, and Italian sodas, as well as a propriety drip coffee blend created in partnership with La Colombe. Upstairs, an Assouline library and lounge is a welcoming space where guests can peruse the collection of visually stunning books while enjoying their breakfast, lunch, or afternoon snack.

Leonelli Focacceria is the second of three new concepts Chef Benno will open in The Evelyn hotel this year. Leonelli Taberna, a casual Roman-inspired trattoria with an accompanying cocktail bar and lounge, opened June 25; Benno, a fine-dining French Mediterranean restaurant, will be introduced this fall.

Says Benno, “There aren’t many spaces in NYC that would lend themselves to what we’re doing in one location, with the bakery [Leonelli Focacceria] in the front of the hotel, casual Italian [Leonelli Taberna] through the lobby, and a fine-dining restaurant in back [Benno]. It affords me the opportunity to take everything I’ve done throughout my career and showcase it all in one place.”

Leonelli Focacceria is open seven days a week from 7am-8pm (breakfast served 7am-11am). For more information visit: www.leonellirestaurants.com
