For one day only, the country's top pitmasters and chefs will compete in the 1st Annual StarChefs.com SMOKE@ICC, presented by Chung Jung One, Saturday, September 28, 2013. In the swirl of the 8th Annual StarChefs.com International Chefs Congress, ten competing teams will smoke their meats (and more) in premium, work-horse smokers and add a kick to dishes with Chung Jung One's fiery Sunchang Gochujang red pepper paste.

Not only will chefs have a chance to flex their 'cue acumen, they'll showcase a range of barbecue styles with judging in Regional American, New World, and Asian categories.

Who will be crowned the king of meat? That'll be up to Chef, Author, and Pitmaster Andy Husbands, executive chef of the competition and winner of the 2009 Jack Daniel's World Championships with team iQue. Husbands and his crew of judges—"Famous Dave" Anderson, Brad Orrison, Kenny Callaghan, Steven Raichlen, and Matt & Ted Lee—will award points for taste, tenderness, presentation, creativity, and pure culinary chutzpah. They'll award one winner in each category and name the best overall barbecue in the land.

This year's grand prize winner will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Korea, presented by Chung Jung One, as well as a MLR 150 competition-level smoker and a chance to compete at the World Food Championships in Las Vegas, courtesy of Southern Pride.

But our all-star panel of judges won't have the last word. StarChefs.com is inviting barbecue-crazed New Yorkers (for whom judging is a natural talent) to sample competitors' meats and vote for a People's Choice Award—all while kicking back American craft beers from the country's best brewers.

For the love of barbecue, beer, and fierce culinary competition, join us at the 1st Annual StarChefs.com SMOKE@ICC. Tickets are $65 for 10 plates of barbecue and free-flowing beer; VIP tickets are $85 and include early access to the event, as well as a workshop featuring SMOKE@ICC judges.
