The Real School Food Challenge

For the first year ever, StarChefs has partnered with the Chef Ann Foundation in hosting the Real School Food Challenge to bring awareness to the need for healthier food in schools. For the Challenge, 12 chefs crafted a USDA-compliant meal for their menu with a $1.25 budget, the average food cost for a school lunch in the U.S. Five chef's recipes have been selected based on their creativity in meeting the requirements, and these finalists will serve their dish to attendees and guest judges.

The Real School Food Challenge takes place Monday, October 28, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Congress Cocktail. The winner will be announced Tuesday, October 29 at 3 p.m. Chef competitors include:

About the Chef Ann Foundation

The Chef Ann Foundation (CAF), a national nonprofit, has enlisted chefs across the country to support healthier school meals by participating in the Real School Food Challenge. Since 2009, CAF has impacted the food served to 3 million children in 10,000 schools with their healthy food programming, including implementing salad bars and scratch cooking in schools.
