2019 Valrhona C³ North American Finals

For the fifth year, StarChefs has partnered with Valrhona, Inc. to host the 2019 Valrhona C³ North American Finals on Monday, October 28. At this year's competition, six acclaimed pastry chefs will race against the clock to create plated desserts and petit fours featuring Valrhona's BAHIBE 46% Single Origin Dominican Republic.

Since 2008, Valrhona has organized the Chocolate Chef Competition (C³) to celebrate professional pastry chefs and honor the elaborate nature of the trade in all of its technical and creative aspects, with a focus on chocolate. By gathering a community of pastry chefs, who are driven by a desire to showcase the quality and creativity of their work. Valrhona highlight the profession and gives attendees the opportunity to discuss trends, techniques, and market developments. 

This year's competitors include Desarae Bittle (The Greenbrier), Kevin Clemenceau (Pitchoun Bakery), Takunori Hirayama (Duo Patisserie and Cafe), Jim Hutchison (Wivian Farms), Eunji Lee (Jungsik) and Weilu Wang (Eleven Madison Park)

Creativity, originality, taste, texture, aesthetics, and respect of the chocolate theme will help the judges determine the best North American pastry chef. This year's steller panel of judges includes Molly Adams (The FeedFeed), Lincoln Carson (Bon Temps), Patrice Demers (Patrice Patissier), Kamel Guechida (Wolfgang Puck Find Dining Group), Pierre Herme (Pierre Herme), Belinda Leong (b.patisserie), Ghaya Oliveira (Daniel), Mina Pizarro (L'Appart), AnnMarie Matilla (Pastry Arts Magazine) and Lisa Shames (So Good Magazine). 

The regional winner will be automatically selected to compete during the International Final in Singapore. The North American winner will receive a check for $5,000. The 2nd prize winner will receive a check for $2,000 and the press prize winner will receive a check for $1,000.
