Pastry Chef Sharon Gofreed of Uchi Houston - Biography

Sharon Gofreed worked as a defense contractor for 10 years, traveling the world and living all over the country. But this work-related wanderlust convinced Gofreed it was time to make a change, so she nurtured a long-burning interest in the culinary world. Enrolling at Le Cordon Bleu in Austin, Texas, she soon completed her studies and a formative externship under Pastry Chef Johnny Iuzzini at New York’s Jean Georges. Returning to Austin, Gofreed landed a position at Uchiko under Rising Star Pastry Chef Philip Speer. After just 10 months, her hard work was rewarded with a transfer to Uchi and a promotion to pastry chef. When Uchi Houston opened she jumped on board, making the move to act as pastry chef at the new location.
