Pastry Chef Erica Tomei of Chicago Marriott Naperville - Biography

Erica Tomei got her start in the restaurant world in 2001, working at a small gourmet catering shop in the western suburbs of Chicago. It was here she discovered a secret love for pastry. After working hard in the industry for four years, she headed to culinary school to earn her degree in baking and pastry.

During her time at Kendall College, Tomei secured an internship at the Marriott Hotel on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue. After working through the ranks at the Michigan Avenue property, Tomei hungered for a new challenge and jumped at the opportunity to open a new JW Marriott hotel in the financial district of Chicago. A little over a year later she was sought out by Executive Chef Sean Curry to be the pastry chef at the Chicago Marriott Naperville. At her most recent post, Tomei continues to create her modern classic desserts, founded in simple, yet spot-on flavors.
