Amanda Cook of Cookshop - Biography

Amanda Cook’s love of baking began as a child when her father taught her to switch on the stove. From baking cookies, Cook went on to study food science at Virginia Tech and work for Krispy Kreme as a food technologist. She returned to her hometown, Washington, D.C., to study pastry at L'Academie de Cuisine.

She graduated with honors and went to work at Roberto Donna’s Galileo and later Michel Richard’s Citronelle. In 2004, she joined the team at Eric Ziebold’s CityZen, where she was nominated for a James Beard Award for “Outstanding Pastry Chef” in 2010 and for the same award by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington.  

Cook has cooked for the James Beard Celebrity Chef Tour, and in 2011 named her Popcorn Sundae a “Top 10 Desserts of the Year.” She’s currently pastry chef at Cookshop in Manhattan and developing a product line.
