All the restaurants listed below have sumptous, beautifully presented cuisine, a charming ambience and attentive but not intrusive service:

*Post Trio in San Francisco, CA (the ultimate experience!)

*Shen Hua on College Ave. in Berkeley, CA (the absolute BEST Chinese food we have ever eaten! Always packed any night of the week. First come first served. Best to get there prior to 5:30 pm each night. Recommend sauted dried beans with garlic, lemon chicken, Manchurian Beef, Sweet & Sour Soup, Gen Mai Tea, Steamed rice.)

*St. Louis Hotel Restaurant in the old French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana (wonderful food, exquisite atmosphere. Dining inside or out in their lighted courtyard. Reservations are a good idea)

*Catahoula Cafe in Calistoga, CA (excellent, casual dining experience)

*Wappos Cafe in Calistoga, CA (unique, varied menu. Example: Tandori Chicken and saffron rice with chopped purple cabbage and tahini)

*Chanticleer in Lyon, France. (tropical atmosphere, fantastic food!)

*Restaurant at The Hotel Capitole in Bourgoin-Jallieu, France (not your average French restaurant)

*The Cherub Pub in Dartmouth, England (voted Englands number one pub restaurant for good reason. We would have starved had it not been for the Cherub's juicy steaks! British food is ghastly in our opinion.)

*Jamiaca Joe's in Victoria, B.C. (this one is only a few months old....hope it is successful! Great food and atmosphere)

*The restaurant at the Culinary Institute of America in Napa, CA (fun and ready to PAY the price though. If you want to really get the full treatment, you will be looking at a very high bill, but well worth the total experience. Save your pennies and go when you can afford to do it right ;-)

*Jamison's Restaurant on the North Shore of Oahu. (Great food, lovely sunset dining out on their beachside patio) hint: tried Jamison's on the big island, and it wasn't as good.

*The Bridge Tender in Lake Tahoe, CA. (this one is extremely casual but very good and the location next to a trout stream can't be beat)
