: : : ---I felt compelled to respond to this. For starters, not everyone "wants" to eat at such a late time. Usually for me, the only time we eat after 10 pm is when we're just coming back from an out of town trip, or were busy from afternoon till then and don't have anything at home to eat. It's not like we DECIDED to eat so late. It just happens that way due to circumstances.
: : Thanks. I should have made that point in my original post.
: : People who come in at 10:15 P.M. don't do it to annoy the restaurant. I know that my friends and I used to do it because we had another event to attend in the early evening. I'm sure that's true of other late night diners as well.
: : In response to the other poster's comment that people who come in near closing time should be wiling to suffer "horrible service," this is simply not the way it is at the *better* restaurants where the customer coming in just before closing time receives the same courteous service as the customer coming at any other time. I wonder if you were the owner of an establishment, you'd think that the paying customers coming at 10:15 P.M. or anyone else deserves "horrible service."
--------sorry.... we're long closed by 10:15 pm!! all you'd be greeted with is a locked door... and it's not like we give people 'horrible service' to teach them or anything... we still treat them the same... it's just annoying when people don't have enough decency to pay the check when they are done so we can leave... They had their food, they're all done, but they just sit there and don't pay in fear that we won't refill their empty water glass if they settle the bill! That is just asinine.. We served you..even gave you extra time to chat.... now can we please go home??
