Vadjinia Bradbury started working in the restaurant industry at the
tender age of 14. By the time he was 18, he was cooking tableside and
at 20, was already a captain. It was at this time that he took a decided
interest in wine while working at the Painted Table in Seattle's Alexis
Hotel (named one of the best progressive 'fusion' restaurants in the
country by USA Today) for Chef Tim Kelly. He became a sommelier in 1994
at the Salish Lodge and Spa in Snoqualmie, Washington which has received
the Wine Spectator magazine Award of Excellence and boasted one of the
Pacific Northwest's largest wine programs. Here he hosted numerous winemaker
dinners under Certified Master Chef David Kellaway.
Mr. Bradbury also served as wine consultant to the Bamboo Grill and
Avenue One in Seattle before moving to Las Vegas to begin work on the
award-winning program at Aureole in the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Resort.
Under the expert leadership of Master Sommelier Steven Geddes and Andrew
Vadjinia Bradbury, the wine program at Aureole Las Vegas has recently
won the coveted Award for Grand Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine
(September 2000) in addition to Food & Wine's Best Sommeliers and
Best Wine List, the Las Vegas Review Journal's Best Wine List, Las Vegas
magazine's Best Wine List and the International Wine list featuring
the best wines from the greatest regions in the world and regions unique
to the U.S. market.
Mr.
Bradbury has recently completed his Advanced Certification and is now
a Master's Candidate for the Master Sommelier Certificate. He is the
winner of the 2000 Wilson Daniels "Master Sommelier Scholarship
Award" and has been guest sommelier at the James Beard Foundation's
"Dinner of the Decade" and the Auction of Northwest Wines,
one of the largest charity wine auctions in the country.
Much
of his time is spent researching wines from the around world and he
has had major tours of wine regions including France, Germany and Austria
to meet with the area's top producers and vineyard sites.
