200th Anniversary
Pernod Seafood Rescue
This summer, StarChefs invited professional chefs
from around the country to submit their original seafood recipes
using Pernod. The winner of the contest is Jason Giordano of Café
Boulud Palm Beach. Jason’s recipe for Poached Oysters with
Preserved Lemon, Pernod and Tomato Confit wowed our test cooks and
panel of judges. For the grand prize, Jason won a trip for two to
Paris to celebrate Pernod’s 200th Anniversary. See Jason’s

Magic Cocktail Contest
Chefs aren’t the only restaurant professionals
inspired by Pernod. This fall, StarChefs invited all mixologists,
bartenders and bar chefs to participate in the Mixing Magic Cocktail
Contest and create an original Pernod cocktail.
The competition was fierce, and the use of Pernod
was certainly creative. The first round of judging took place at
the Flatiron Lounge in New York City, where master
bar chef Julie Reiner tested the recipes of 30
original Pernod cocktails. Our judging panel narrowed the field
down to 5 finalists:

Our top three finalists
– David Nepove, Vincenzo Marianella,
and Franklin Becker mixed their Pernod cocktails
at StarChefs.com Rising Stars Revue in San Francisco on October
17 at Teatro ZinZanni. Guests at the gala voted on their favorite
cocktail. David Nepove took home the top prize with The Retreat,
a blend of Pernod, Hangar One Buddha’s Hand, lemon juice and
basil. David also won a trip for two to Paris to join in Pernod’s
festivities for their 200th Anniversary!
