Harbour, the new nautical-themed seafood restaurant in Hudson Square is now open. 2008 Las Vegas Rising Star Chef Joe Isidori, formerly of DJT in the Trump Tower Las Vegas, is at the helm.
Pichet Ong's dessert-driven restaurant P*ONG and adjacent bakery Batch have closed. The 2006 Rising Star pastry chef plans to reopen Batch in a larger Chelsea location this summer.
Jon Tesar, the former chef of Dallas's Mansion on Turtle Creek, is replacing Fishtail chef Eric Hara, who left to take over the Oak Room.
Former fashion publicist Leyla Marchetto's Scuderia is now open across the street from her father's legendary Da Silvano.
2007 New York Rising Star Award Winner Doug Psaltis, whose past restaurants include ADNY, Mix and Country, is now chef/partner at Smith's on Macdougal Street.
Chef shuffle at the Oak Room: Joel Antunes is gone, and Eric Hara is in. Hara was most recently executive chef of David Burke Townhouse and Fishtail. The Oak Room will remain open through its relaunch. Around mid-month, expect a new concept that will "reflect a true New York experience."
White Slab Palace on Delancey opened at the end of last month to raves, after taunting the neighborhood with its shuttered storefront for months. Food service begins in the first week of March.
Chef Daniel "Chino" Perilla has left 5 Ninth in the Meatpacking District. Kevin Pomplun (previously of Thor in the Rivington Hotel) will take over the kitchen.
Pizzaolo Alberto Polo Cretara (who trained at Il Forno in Rome) is now serving traditional Neapolitan pies at his new venture, Farinella, in Tribeca.
Lower East Side Spanish restaurant Suba is now closed. Chef Seamus Mullen and crew will continue work in Boqueria, Suba's sister restaurant.
The Suba space has been sold to Will and Rob Shamlian, the team behind Spitzer's Corner. The brothers plan to open a taqueria with a full bar and DJs spinning in the basement.
2008 Chicago Rising Star sommelier, Josh Kaplan has left mk restaurant. He is now the Beverage Manager for the upcoming restaurants at the Wit hotel: State & Lake, Roof, Cibo Matto.
Las Vegas
Fine dining at Rick Moonen's RM Seafood upstairs is on temporary hiatus. The downstairs RM Cafe is still in full swing with Adam Sobel on board, and Moonen himself at the helm.
After a year at Lavo in the Palazzo, Ludovic Lefebvre is returning to Los Angeles. He hopes to have LudoBites at the Breadbar up and running by May.
Larry Forgione (An American Place) has parted ways with the Wynn Hotel.
Gloria Felix's new casual bistro Reservoir is now open for dinner in Silver Lake.
The Kogi Korean BBQ taco trucks have taken their addictive fusion food indoors at the Alibi Room in Culver City.
After about a year of service, Kula Sushi Bistro has closed and plans to relocate to Orange County.
Toby Maloney (2008 ICC presenter, and the mixology mastermind of The Violet Hour in Chicago and Rusty Knot in NYC) just finished a couple of months in Minneapolis opening a bar called The Bradstreet Craftshouse. Maloney is now in Nashville opening a bar called the Patterson House.
Grange, the new restaurant in the Citizen Hotel is now open. Heading up the kitchen is Michael Tuohy, formerly of Woodfire Grill and Chef's Café. As part of the Slow Food Movement, Chef Tuohy brings his commitment to serving local, seasonal food to California's central valley. Chef Tuohy will also oversee banquet and room service menus for The Citizen Hotel.
Slim's Last Chance Chili Shack & Watering Hole has made Bon Appétit magazine's "Hot Ten" -- a listing of the 10 best chili places in the country
Viceroy Miami has brought NYC chef Michael Psilakis (Gus & Gabriel's) on board to helm the hotel's dining program.
David Gilbert (Dallas Rising Star 2007 Award Winner) is on board as the chef for Lazare. The restaurant is in the old Pescaba space, and is set to open March 23rd.
Oleg Konovalov and Ibonne Zabala have re-configured and re-launched their Jamaica Plain restaurant Bon Savor. Along with chef Alba Aranda the husband-wife restaurateur team have updated their menu to fuse the two distinct cuisines of South America and France.
Bill and Patti Martin have opened Tastings Wine Bar & Bistro in the Patriot Place. Executive Chef Richard Garcia offers a menu comprised of globally-inspired small-plate dishes that are complemented by the restaurant's extensive wine list compiled by General Manager and Sommelier David Cicciarella.
