Owner Dwayne Beliakoff has closed Creole restaurant Roux. Sean McKee, the executive chef, was voted Best New Portland Chef by the St. Johns Sentinel.

Chef/co-owner Akhtar Nawab, co-owner Noel Cruz and their partners have closed Elettaria due to issues with lease negotiations. Nawab is working on other projects, including a presentation at the upcoming International Chefs Congress.

New Italian spot Trattoria Cinque is now open in Tribeca.

Rene Hernandez, El Bulli-trained chef-owner of Don Pedro's on the Upper East Side, will open Crudo this month. This Caribbean restaurant specializing in raw fish--what else?--also features a cocktail list by The Liquid Chef Junior Merino.
Joe Isidori has left Harbour after helping the new restaurant find its sea legs. Anthony Fusco (Bobby Flay's exec sous chef from Mesa Grill), who was the chef de cuisine, has been named the executive chef. Jonah Kim is the new chef de cuisine.

Vinoteque on Melrose opens this month after its previous incarnation in Culver City shuttered to resolve liquor license issues. The kitchen of this small plate and wine bar will be run by Joshua Smookler, who has trained under Mr. Thomas Keller and was wine director at Bouley in New York.

San Francisco
Co-owner John Hurley says the time is right to make some changes at the Oakland restaurant Garibaldis, and is turning the bar into a second location of his neighborhood Italian restaurant, Marzano. The space that's now the dining area will remain Garibaldis.

Ex-Ducca chef Richard Corbo has unleashed his plans for a new pizzeria in Oakland's Jack London Marketplace. "Set to open in spring 2010, Pizzeria Zanna Bianco - translated as White Fang, a nod to the marketplace's namesake - will offer about 10 pizzas in various regional Italian styles, a half dozen pasta dishes and what Corbo is calling market-driven small plates."

Carlos and Debbie Nieto of Highland Park's Carlos' are set to open the Happ Inn Bar and Grill.

Mike Sentelli, with the help of former Four Seasons pastry cooks Shawn Bonifay and Christina Hernandez, Sentelli has turned Tony Sansalone's bakeshop into Sentelli's Specialty Cakes and Fine Pastry.
Pangaea, the safari-themed "ultra lounge" that first opened in 2007 has closed. No word yet on what the nightclub's owner, Michael Ault, has planned next.
Morton's The Steakhouse has opened its first Fort Lauderdale location. General manager Michael Savitt and executive chef Marsha Orosco preside over the well-executed steak and seafood and the extensive wine list at this branch of the upscale chain.
