Chattanooga's St. John's Restaurant and St. John's Meeting Place restaurants have expanded to offer their sophisticated, stylish experience to more guests. Chef/Co-owner Daniel Lindley and partner Josh Carter proudly announce the addition of more than 1200 square feet of seductive space to sip and sup. Both restaurants have grown and both crash historic origin with modern sensibility designed by Rodney Simmons of Revival Studio. In addition, their staff has grown bringing seven new jobs to Chattanooga.
St. John's Restaurant - The R.H. Hunt Room
"My design for this space bespeaks elegance, intimate glamour and luxurious modernity - a classic interior that underscores Chef Lindley's extraordinary culinary talent," enthuses Simmons. The soaring space features horizontal gloss bands that stripe the lower walls to reflect candlelight as it lowers the double height of the room named for the building's original architect Reuben Harrison Hunt. Hunt, an important regional architect, also designed the Art Deco Joel Soloman Federal Building and Chattanooga's classic revival City Hall.
The room is illuminated by a trio of patinated brass fingered chandeliers with paper cylinder shades designed to reference the large drum light shades of the Lobby Dining Room and Bar. In lieu of ubiquitous art, foxed mirror panels stage both of the private dining rooms with otherworldly images of the diners themselves. The new space seats 50 and is wired for meetings with AV/tech capabilities. Along with the Thomas Johnson Room - named for the architect who rescued the historic structure - St. John's now offers a variety of private dining options for any gathering.
St. John's Meeting Place - The Lounge at Meeting Place
The vibe is palpable. The look unmistakable. This is Meeting Place. With space for 25 revelers, the new upstairs Lounge at Meeting Place is at once hip and comfortable. Leather couches and ottomans line one wall while illuminated communal bar-height tables fill the center of the space like contemporary campfires, where casual friends elbow for drinks with late night hipsters.
It's all lit by a slideshow of provocative images on the 50-inch flat-screen monitor that bathes the space in flickering color designed to spark conversation over Lindley's take on traditional bistro fare and drinks prepared by Chattanooga's finest mixologists.
