SWEET PLATES, SPICY COMPETITION: THE 2ND ANNUAL STARCHEFS.COM INTERNATIONAL PASTRY COMPETITORS ANNOUNCED
 

New York, NY (May 9, 2011) - -- StarChefs.com announces the competitors for the 2nd Annual StarChefs.com International Pastry Competition, presented by Pregel to take place October 1-4 at the Park Avenue Armory, NY.

The group of 20 pastry chefs hails from top culinary cities, including Chicago, Boston, and our very own New York City. They will be competing for a grand prize, including $5000 and a Baxter Hybrid Convection Oven. This year's competitors are Antonio Bachour (Trump Soho, NY and W South Beach), Bettina Clair (Blue Hill Tavern, Baltimore), Dana Cree (formerly of Alinea, Chicago), Kymberli DeLost (Japonais, Chicago), Christopher Ford (Rogue 24, DC), Meg Galus (Park Hyatt Chicago), Ian Gresik ( Drago Centro, LA), Manabu Inoue (Morimoto NYC), Christina Kaelberer (Market by Jean Georges, Boston), Jiho Kim (L'Espalier, Boston), Vanarin Kuch (Tiny Boxwoods, Houston), Chris Leung (Bootsie's, Houston), Salvatore Martone (L'Atelier at Four Seasons, NY), John Park (Lukshon, LA), Ramon Perez ( David Myers), Katie Rosenhouse ( David Burke, NY), Max Santiago (The One Group and STK, NY), Vera Tong (Buddakan, NY), Jennifer Yee (formerly of Aureole, NY), Kady Yon (Boka, Chicago), with alternate pastry competitors being Cicely Austin (The Oval Room, DC), Luisa DeGirolamo (Piping Rock Club, NY), Rory MacDonald (Dram, NY).

The 2nd Annual StarChefs.com International Pastry Competition is presented by Pregel, and sponsored by Carpigiani, Cacao Barry, Bravo, The Perfect Puree of Napa Valley, Baxter, Hobart, Demarle, E. Guittard, Unified Brands and Waring Commercial, and will be headed by Executive Pastry Chef Johnny Iuzzini, and judged by noted culinary & pastry experts: David Burke, Curtis Duffy, Elizabeth Falkner, Pierre Herme, Ron Paprocki, Francois Payard, and Jeffrey Steingarten.
