STARCHEFS STUDIO COMES TO NEW ENGLAND FOODSERVICE & LODGING EXPO

StarChefs.com, the magazine for culinary insiders, announces its professional program at the New England Foodservice & Lodging Expo (NEFS) in Boston. StarChefs Studio – A Kitchen Without Boundaries - provides the most innovative chefs with a collaborative environment to pass their knowledge onto the star chefs of tomorrow. Sunday, April 10
KEYNOTE ADDRESS: Leadership Lessons From the Kitchen –Team-Building & Crisis Management
Anthony Bourdain, executive chef of Les Halles Brasserie and author of the popular memoir and expose, Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly, will wax philosophical and comical about the challenges of running a kitchen. (1:15-2:30 pm)

KITCHEN COMBAT: BATTLE OF THE SEXES
Two teams made up of Boston's top chefs face off in StarChefs' culinary showdown. Once the mystery ingredient is revealed, opposing teams will have one hour to conceptualize, cook and plate inventive dishes to be judged by a panel of critics. The women’s team will be led by Ana Sortun of Oleana and also includes Barbara Lynch of No. 9 Park, Ruth-Anne Adams of Casablanca, and Susan Regis and Amanda Lydon of UpStairs on the Square. The men’s team will be led by Anthony Susi of Sage and also includes Marc Orfaly of Pigalle, Dante de Magistris, formerly of blu, Gabriel Frasca of Spire, and Pino Maffeo of Restaurant L. (2:30-4:00 pm)

“HOW TO MAKE IT” CHEF PANEL
Boston's star chefs will appear with their legendary chef mentors. The protégés will discuss lessons learned from their mentors, while the mentors will explain why the protégés stood out in their kitchens. This seminar gives chefs, cooks, and culinary students the opportunity to learn how to advance their careers and to discuss the difficulties and rewards of the industry. Panelists include: Mentor Chef Gordon Hamersley of Hamersley’s Bistro with Protégé Chef Jody Adams of Rialto and blu; Mentor Chef Bob Kinkead of Kinkead’s, Colvin Run Tavern, and recently opened Sibling Rivalry, with Protégé Chef Chris Schlesinger of East Coast Grill. (10:45 – 11:45 am)

CHEF TECHNIQUES DEMONSTRATIONS
Rising Star Chefs will share their innovative techniques and culinary concepts with their fellow chefs and industry professionals. Chef demonstrators include: Ernie Quinones of Mantra, Gabriel Frasca of Spire, Pino Maffeo of Restaurant L, Geoff Gardner of Sel de la Terre, Mark Allen of Le Soir, Dante de Magistris formerly of blu, Marc Orfaly of Pigalle and Anthony Susi of Sage. RECRUITING FOR BETTER RETENTION
StarChefs.com CEO Antoinette Bruno and a select panel of recruiting experts will discuss the most effective methods of recruiting employees who will stay and grow with an organization. THE BRANDING OF A CHEF – Exclusive Seminar at Harvard Business School
Successes in the restaurant industry are few and far between, but there are a handful of chefs and restaurateurs who have established profitable business empires.
