Marking the 100th birthday of the father of American cooking, the
2003 James Beard Foundation awards and gala will feature America's
top culinary stars on Monday, May 5, 2003, at the New York Marriott
Marquis. 25 chefs will be featured from across the United States,
each of whom will bring a unique take on the James Beard philosophy
of cooking. Chefs for the reception were selected based on either
their personal relationships with Beard or the way their cooking reflects
the influence he had on American cuisine. The James Beard awards honor
food and beverage industry professionals in America for their achievements.
