Strawberry Fennel

Yield: 1 Cocktail

Sour Mix (makes 1 pint):
1 cup fresh lime juice
1 cup sugar cane syrup

Fennel Bitters:
3 2-inch slices fennel
½ ounce Grand Marinier
½ ounce vodka
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1 teaspoon whole anise
1 teaspoon whole coriander
3 dashes Angostura bitters

To Assemble and Serve:
3 strawberries, hulled
1 2-inch slice fennel          
2 ounces vodka
½ ounce Grand Marinier

For the Sour Mix:
Combine the lime juice and syrup.

For the Fennel Bitters:
In a pan, combine the fennel, Grand Marinier, vodka, clove, anise, coriander, and Angostura bitters. Cook until the mixture has reduced; Strain and reserve.

To Assemble and Serve:
In a mixing glass, muddle the strawberries and the fennel. Add the vodka, Grand Marinier, ½ ounce sour mix, and 1 dash fennel bitters. Chill and strain into a cocktail glass.
