Steamed Crabs
Chef John Neale Harrison, Sr. of Stoney’s Seafood House – Broomes Island, MD
Adapted by StarChefs

Yield: 3-4 Servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups beer
  • 2 cups vinegar
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 Tablespoons black pepper
  • 1 dozen live Maryland blue crabs
  • 1½ cups Harbour Spice Crab seasoning (or Old Bay seasoning)

Method:
Place beer, vinegar, water, and black pepper at the bottom of a large steam pot fitted with a metal rack. Bring mixture to a boil and place crabs on the rack. Sprinkle crab seasoning on top of crabs, place lid on tight and allow crabs to steam about 25 - 30 minutes, depending on size.

Wine Pairing:
Switch things up with a lighter, refreshing beer such as Reissdorf Kölsch from Cologne, Germany
