2nd Annual Time Out for Hunger
March 20, 2005
New Yorkers will have the chance to raise
money for hunger relief while dining at some of the city's
top restaurants on Sunday, March 20 during the second annual
Time Out For Hunger. The initiative was created in 2004 by
Time Out New York and the Food Bank For New York City.Star
Chef Mario Batali will lead more than 75 restaurants in donating
10% of March 20 proceeds to the Food Bank to feed families
in need. For every dollar donated, the Food Bank is able to
provide five meals to help feed the hungry in NYC.
Patrons who dine at one of the Time Out
For Hunger restaurants on March 20 will receive a free three-month
membership to TONY's Eating & Drinking Online. Diners will
also have the opportunity to win dinner for two at one of
the participating restaurants or a one-year subscription to
Eating & Drinking Online.
An estimated two million people in New York
City are at risk of going hungry. More than half of them are
children and the elderly. The Food Bank For New York City,
the nation's largest food bank and the city's largest supplier
of food for the hungry, provides food for the more than 240,000
free meals served each day by 1,200 non-profit community food
programs in the five boroughs. For a complete list of participating
restaurants, please visit www.foodbanknyc.org.
