Gala
Festival of Food & Wine
Arguably one of the largest celebrations of food and wine
in the nation, the Gala Festival of Food & Wine has served
to promote Boston’s ever growing hospitality industry
for the last two decades. Held each winter in the heart of
Boston, the Gala has evolved from an intimate dinner into
what the Boston Globe has called, “the mother of all
food and wine celebrations around the country.”
This grand evening draws over 125 top restaurants and expert
chefs from across New England, as well as 90 of the most elite
wineries in the world. Additionally, the Spinazzola Pub offers
guests a chance to taste the wares of the region’s best
breweries.
After you’ve sampled the best that New England and
the world have to offer, join us at the Viking Kitchen for
the Celebrity Cook-Off, place a bid on the rare and fine wines
on display in our silent auction or dance the night away in
the main hall or across the street at the Seaport Hotel and
the Spinazzola Nightcap. There is something for everyone at
this fabulous black tie event.
Yet, this evening is much more than exquisite food and wine.
For more than twenty years, the funds raised at the Gala have
been given out by the Foundation through grants and scholarships
that provide hunger and homelessness relief to those in need,
as well as education for those who lack the funds necessary
to continue on in the culinary arts. In all, the Foundation
has donated more than $3 million to students and organizations
throughout the Boston area.
This year’s gala marks the 21st Anniversary of this
black-tie affair. Highlights include a performance by Keith
Lockhart and friends, as well as, performances by local VIPS;
the Viking Celebrity Chef Cook-off, and a silent auction of
rare, collectible bottles of wine. Guests can choose from
two after-parties including a dance club featuring the band,
World Premier, and the other a Jazz Café Lounge. General
admission is at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are still available at $200.00 per ticket; VIP tickets
are $400 each by calling 781.344.4413 or by ordering on-line
at www.spinazzola.org.
About
the Spinazzola Foundation
The funds raised support the Foundation’s mission of
“feeding hungry bodies and minds” through grants
to hunger-relief agencies, programs for the homeless, and
culinary scholarships. The Foundation was founded in 1992
in honor of Anthony Spinazzola, the respected Boston Globe
food and wine writer. Its work is distinguished by its flexible
approach in addressing community needs, and the Foundation
is proud of its commitment to reinvest funds in the community.
For each dollar raised, $.88 goes directly to support its
programs, keeping administrative and operating costs at only
12%.
