Seaport World Trade Center in Boston. This
year’s gala marks the 20th anniversary of this black-tie
benefit, featuring food and wine from over 120 participating
restaurants and 90 international vintners. Highlights include
an evening performance by Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops,
the Viking Celebrity Chef Cook-Off, and a silent auction of
collectible bottles of wine. Gala participants can choose
from two after-parties – one a dance club with the band
World Premier, and the other a Jazz Café Lounge sponsored
by Starbucks coffee.
This year’s recipient at Gala of the
Classic Citizen Award is Bill Shore, Founder of Share Our
Strength (SOS), a leading national hunger relief organization.
The award is presented to an individual in the hospitality
industry who “has demonstrated, either personally or
through professional philosophy, outstanding charitable service
to the community.” The recipient of this award best
reflects the passion and dedication of Anthony Spinazzola
exhibited in his pursuit of perfection toward all aspects
of food and wine as well as his commitment to education and
the support of those less fortunate in our society.

About
the Spinazzola Foundation
The funds raised support the Foundation’s mission of
“feeding hungry bodies and minds” through grants
to hunger-relief agencies, programs for the homeless, and
culinary scholarships. The Foundation was founded in 1992
in honor of Anthony Spinazzola, the respected Boston Globe
food and wine writer. Its work is distinguished by its flexible
approach in addressing community needs, and the Foundation
is proud of its commitment to reinvest funds in the community.
For each dollar raised, $.88 goes directly to support its
programs, keeping administrative and operating costs at only
12%.
