BiographyA freelance food writer, reviewer, and eater, Andrea Strong is the author, founder, and creator of The Strong Buzz, a daily blog and twice-weekly newsletter devoted to New York City’s food scene – insider dish, news, reviews, chefs on the move, restaurant openings and closings, events, and the like.
Having survived an early career as a lawyer, Strong found her passion in food a decade ago, abandoning a six-figure salary for a life chronicling the ins and outs of the culinary world and the extraordinary people who shape it. In addition to being a regular contributor to The New York Post and a contributing editor to BizBash magazine, Strong has written for The New York Times, New York Magazine, Time Out New York, Metropolitan Home, Real Simple, Condé Nast Traveler, and Travel & Leisure, among others. She’s also the co-author – with Katy Sparks – of Sparks in the Kitchen, published by Knopf in 2006.
Andrea has been a television guest on Top Chef (Bravo), Gourmet’s Diary of a Foodie (PBS), Heavyweights (Food Network), and Eat This New York with Kelly Choi (WNBC), and a radio guest on Martha Stewart, Food Talk with Mike Colemeco, and The Restaurant Guys.
Strong’s commitment to culinary excellence is matched only by her passion for helping those “who rarely have an opportunity to eat.” In 2006, she founded Dining for Darfur, a humanitarian organization that supports relief work in Darfur and Chad, www.diningfordarfur.org.
