When 2011 Chicago Rising Star Chris Pandel wanted to go big, there was no better duo to team up with than Chicago’s restaurant dream team, 2011 Chicago Rising Star Restaurateurs Rob Katz and Kevin Boehm (of Girl & the Goat, GT Fish & Oyster, and Perennial Virant fame). Together, along with the talents of Pastry Chef Amanda Rockman, the crew launched Balena, filling up the former Landmark space with rustic Italian cuisine (think addictive pastas, braised meats, and s creamy gelato sundaes). The cathedral ceilings, tiled floors, and rustic wooden beams give a luxe, homey charm, proving this team has yet another hit on their hands.
