Set in a refurbished home, Atchafalaya is a neighborhood place with bottles of hot sauce on the table and steaming gumbo ready and waiting. But seeing as this is no ordinary neighborhood, but the Garden District, Atchafalaya’s menu offers more than its share of nuanced pleasures. Befitting its watery namesake, seafood comprises the bulk of the menu here, and all manner of swimming specimen are cooked to perfection by Chef Baruch Rabasa. The pastas, too, are al dente, and sauces executed with emphasis on detail and classic technique.
