Il Viaggiatore, meaning “the traveler,” brings together ingredients from six different places in the world. A man known as “the traveler” visited several bartenders in many countries looking for those who could add something special to the drink. Once all of the ingredients had been added to the bottle, he visited Cuba to see a man known for his ability to aerate drinks. He used an old Spanish technique—which the Spaniards brought to Cuba in the 1800s—in which he rolls the cocktail to release flavors and aromas trapped in the spirits.

INGREDIENTS:

1 ounce Fernet Branca
¾ ounce Carpano Antica Formula vermouth
½ ounce VS cognac
½ ounce Cardenal Mendoza Sherry brandy
½ ounce dry curacao
3 dashes Mole bitters
Orange zest

METHOD:

To a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add all spirits and bitters. Pour back and forth between two cocktail shakers until you reach desired aeration and dilution. Strain the mixture into a chilled coupe and express the orange zest. Garnish with zest and mint.
