  StarChefs Rising Stars Mentor Award

  The Rising Stars Mentor Award celebrates a chef who is most supportive of young cooks and most instrumental in aiding their career, both in and out of the kitchen. In each city, the Rising Stars Award winners vote by secret ballot for that city’s mentor chef.  
2017 Austin Rising Stars: Chef Bryce Gilmore
 Chef Bryce Gilmore was born into the industry. He's a native son of Austin who has influenced innumerable young cooks and Central Texas cooking. He was the first chef to transcend the food truck, and his Odd Duck and Barley Swine are synonymous with Austin as well as with bringing fine-dining mentality and technique down to earth.  
2017 Colorado Rising Stars: Chef Alex Seidel
 Chef Alex Seidel has influenced innumerable young chefs since arriving in Colorado and carving his way from Sweet Basil in Vail to Frank Bonanno’s Mizuna and onto the opening of Fruition in 2009. He later crystallized his standing with the founding of Fruition Farms and the massive, elegant, welcoming Mercantile Dining & Provision in Union Station.  
2017 New York Rising Stars: Chef Michael Anthony
 Under the leadership of Rising Stars alum Chef Michael Anthony, Gramercy Tavern has earned three-star reviews from The New York Times and the “Outstanding Restaurant” award from the James Beard Foundation. He was named James Beard’s “Best Chef, New York City” in 2012 and “Outstanding Chef” in 2015. That same year, he opened his second restaurant, Untitled at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
