SALT & STRAW ICE CREAM SPREADS THE LOVE ACROSS THREE NEW YORK NEIGHBORHOODS
Pints of classic flavors available for the first time in New York City at The Meadow and scoops atop The Whitney Museum at Studio Cafe

PORTLAND, Ore. (June 20, 2017) Salt & Straw Ice Cream, the Portland-based, family-run ice cream company known for their taste provoking, imaginative ice cream creations, will be available across three New York City neighborhoods starting this June. The ice cream debuted last month at Daily Provisions and are now adding pints available at The Meadow and scoops at The Whitney at Studio Cafe.

A special selection of Salt & Straw’s classic pints will be available in New York City for the first time at The Meadow beginning Thursday, June 22. Salt & Straw and Mark Bitterman, founder of The Meadow, have a long time relationship dating back to 2011 when he arrived at their shop with a briefcase full of salts and helped head ice cream maker Tyler Malek develop their most popular flavor ever, Sea Salt & Caramel Ribbons. Continuing their collaborative partnership, The Meadow will offer Salt & Straw pints in a variety of flavors, including long time favorites like Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper, Freckled Woodblock Chocolate; Pear & Blue Cheese; Honey Lavender and Petunia’s Cookies and Cream with Raspberry Swirl (vegan) and of course, Sea Salt & Caramel Ribbons. To celebrate the launch, The Meadow, located at 523 Hudson St., New York, NY, will be hosting a celebratory Ice Cream Social on Thursday, June 22 with an ice cream tasting and a meet and greet with Mark Bitterman as well as live music from 5 - 8 p.m.

"With 120 salts, 350 chocolate bars, 100 cocktail bitters, and not much else--we tend to be obsessive at The Meadow.   We love the crazy diversity of people and places and products lurking out there in the world, waiting to be discovered,” said The Meadow founder Mark Bitterman. “I’ve been looking around for four years for something new to carry in our little shop in New York when Salt & Straw’s playful, collaborative, brilliantly creative ice creams jumped out at me. And what an honor to be able to share their amazing stories and flavors with our own beautiful guests!"

“We are excited to bring a little more happiness to New York this summer through these partnerships, said Kim Malek, Co-Founder and CEO of Salt & Straw Ice Cream. “Bringing our longtime relationship with The Meadow to life in New York is a dream come true for us. And having the opportunity for folks to enjoy a scoop on the beautiful patio atop The Whitney could not be more perfect.”

Known for creating unique local menus, and then sourcing and producing locally in each market, Salt & Straw debuted their innovative ice creams in New York last month at Daily Provisions Cafe, which included two new flavors inspired by NYC, Joe Coffee & Freckled Chocolate, a coffee and chocolate experience unlike any other created with Joe Coffee’s single-origin Peruvian coffee steeped in chocolate cream; and Strawberry Cheesecake & Rye, a tribute to Daily Provision’s peerless Salted Caraway Rye loaves, combining rye bread ice cream, strawberry jam and liquid poppyseed cheesecake, and topped off with an everything-spiced brittle filled with sesame seeds, caraway, and poppy seeds. Salt & Straw flavors available by the scoop at Studio Cafe at The Whitney, include Joe Coffee & Freckled Chocolate, Double Fold Vanilla, and Sea Salt & Caramel Ribbons.
