JAAN celebrates being amongst the world’s finest with a ranking of 100th at The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2014, sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna. In addition to ranking the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, the coveted list also recognises a selection of international dining establishments positioned from 51-100.

Organised by Restaurant Magazine, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants is an annual list compiled by a distinguished panel of over 900 of the world’s leading food journalists and industry influencers from 26 geographical regions. There are no pre-determined nominees and votes are compiled by The Diners Club® World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy.

JAAN was one of 17 restaurants in Asia to be recognised on this global list, and one of five in Singapore. The new ranking marks the restaurant’s first entry on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list since Chef de Cuisine Julien Royer took the helm in 2011. It comes on the heels of JAAN’s ranking of 17th at the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2014 that was announced in February.

“To be considered one of the best restaurants in the world by some of the most well respected global industry leaders is a real privilege. Earning the rank of 100th is a first step for us as we position ourselves in the global culinary scene, and is definitely an encouragement for us at JAAN. I share this achievement with my team who work tirelessly every day to personalise memorable dining experiences for our guests,” says Chef Julien.

Born into the fourth generation of family farmers, Chef Julien trained under Michel Bras at Laguiole and Bernard Andrieux who reinforced his beliefs in showcasing the natural, distinctive beauty of every ingredient on a plate. At JAAN, Chef Julien continues to enthral his guests with his Modern French cuisine that seamlessly blends the rusticity of his upbringing with the finesse of fine dining.

His elegant and refined creations highlight the finest produce from the world’s best producers.

“We are extremely proud of Chef Julien and the entire team at JAAN who take immense pride in creating unparalleled culinary and service experiences for each of our guests. As the jewel of eight dining destinations at Swissôtel The Stamford, JAAN will continue to reach greater heights and push the boundaries of fine dining,” adds Mr Tom Meyer, Managing Director, Fairmont Singapore and Swissôtel The Stamford and Regional Vice President, Asia Pacific, for FRHI Hotels & Resorts.

JAAN has garnered numerous international dining accolades in recent years that serve as a nod to its exceptional team. The restaurant received the coveted ‘The One to Watch’ award sponsored by LesConcierges at Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2013, which was awarded in recognition of its significant impact on Asia’s dining scene and its potential to rise up the rankings in future years.

Recently, JAAN was appointed Krug Ambassade in Singapore, hand selected for its commitment to unparalleled quality. The first and only restaurant in Singapore to receive such an honour, it joins the company of other notable restaurants such as l’Hôtel Georges V in Paris, Le Burgundy, Fat Duck and Murano in London, Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental London and 8 1/2 Otto & Mezzo Bombana in Hong Kong.

With a string of international accolades under its belt, JAAN continues to lead a burgeoning local culinary scene and a world ranking of 100th is a proud achievement for the team whose goal is to put Singapore on the global culinary map.
