FRENCH WINE SOCIETY BECOMES WINE SCHOLAR GUILD AND EXPANDS

In only 10 years, the French Wine Society (FWS) has become the leading provider of French wine study and certification programs internationally. This success has spawned numerous requests from the wine industry for the FWS to expand its educational offerings to include the wines of Italy and Spain.

To accomplish these goals, the French Wine Society has re-branded as the Wine Scholar Guild (WSG).

“Our aim is for the Wine Scholar Guild to become the leading, international provider of advanced specialization wine study and certification programs,” states Julien Camus, president and founder. “We’re offering the same commitment to quality wine study with a new name and expanded offerings.”

“We will now provide specialized courses of study on the wines of Italy and Spain in addition to our current offerings on France,” adds Lisa M. Airey, WSG Education Director. “Specialized wine study for the top three wine producing countries in the world provides important professional development opportunities to everyone in the wine trade. Our program provider network is thrilled with our expanding programming.”

Currently, the Wine Scholar Guild has instructors in 20 countries on five continents. And this network is growing.

“The Italian Wine Scholar program launches in May of 2016 with preparatory online learning activities. The first classroom sessions will start in September of 2016 around the world,” states Maurizio Broggi, Education Director, Italy. “We are excited to provide in-depth, advanced wine study on the wines of Italy. It was a labor of love.”

The Spanish Wine Scholar program will follow shortly thereafter.

The expansion of programing also means exciting developments for current members! The member benefits French Wine Society members have enjoyed (such as pronunciation exercises and a webinar library) will be gradually expanded to include the same deliverables on Italy and Spain.

“All existing members and all future members will become Wine Scholar Guild members with access to all continuing education programs across the board…at the same $100 price!” states Julien Camus. “Our vision for the Wine Scholar Guild is for it to become a hub for all committed students of wine.”
