Boston’s Own Chef to the Stars: Star-Studded New Recipe Books Pay Tribute to Every Celebrity’s Favorite Chef, the Enigmatic Paul Posti.

From co-creating the Cobb Salad and being Frank Sinatra’s personal chef, to chasing a hungry Elvis Presley out of his kitchen, Chef Paul Posti was quite literally the chef to the stars. Also a decorated war veteran (and bunk-mate to none other than Clark Gable), Posti is a true American hero in every sense of the word. In a fitting tribute to the man behind the food at some of the world’s most prestigious establishments, Rev. George Mather and Rev. Larry Nichols have joined forces in two books to serve up hundreds of recipes and stories of Posti’s tumultuous life. ‘Boston’s Own Chef to the Stars’ is a microcosm of all that is great about American culture and heroism.

Whitman, Massachusetts  Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Mel Blanc were not just leading stars of their days, but individuals who salivated at the very thought of Chef Paul Posti’s food. Posti was truly the “chef to the stars”, sending his creations out of the kitchens of some of the world’s finest hotels and restaurants, directly in front of the world’s biggest names.

But it’s not just food that makes Posti so fascinating; he was also a decorated war hero. Quite amazingly, Posti is the only air combat gunner to shoot down an enemy aircraft with a handgun; an event caught on film by Clark Gable and included in his renowned 1943 motion picture, ‘Combat America’.

As a fitting tribute to Posti, Rev. George Mather and Rev. Larry Nichols have recently published two books chock-full of recipes and stories of the finest man ever to grace the nation’s kitchens.

“Posti has always remained something of an Enigma, and it’s only since his 2002 death that we’ve really come to know the man behind the stories,” explains Rev. Mather, who was Posti’s private student for six years. “For example, it’s only after 61 years of confidentiality that the U.S Government finally revealed that Paul was one of America’s first CIA (OSS) agents during WWII. The people every American knew from the 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's all knew Chef Paul Posti and I dare anyone to find someone who didn’t love his food!”

Continuing, “These books are a loving tribute to a man who shaped our culture more than we’ll ever be able to fathom. During our weekly meetings he so passionately shared his secret recipes with me as well as the stories behind them. I’m now sharing these with the world in the way that Chef Posti would have wanted. Whether you’re a celebrity/Americana buff or dab-hand in the kitchen, Posti can now be stood beside you as he guides you through his recipes and keeps you engrossed with stories of the big names you grew to love.”
