Dennymike's Recognized In Yankee Magazine's 2013 Editors' Choice Food Awards

Westbrook, Maine -- October 31, 2013 -- DennyMike's, the Maine-made line of all-natural sauces and seasonings, has been selected as a winner in Yankee Magazine's inaugural Editors' Choice Food Awards (http://www.yankeemagazine.com/article/food-awards/savory-sauces-20130, featured in the November/December issue, now on newsstands. The exclusive designation spotlights Yankee's editors' favorite artisan New England foods, including cheeses, charcuterie, jams, chocolates, mustards and more.

"For many months now, it has been a bit difficult to know whether Yankee's weekly editorial meetings were to discuss current and future stories, or simply to eat," said Mel Allen, Yankee editor. "Food and Lifestyle Editor Amy Traverso and Assistant Editor Aimee Seavey brought in all sorts of artisanal goodies from New England's most passionate producers."

DennyMike's earned rave reviews from the duo, who said, "If you think you can't find finger-licking Southern-style barbecue sauce handcrafted in New England, DennyMike Sherman will prove you wrong. After learning the tricks of the trade from a Texan friend 40 years ago, he's been making sauces and rubs for the baked beans-and-chowder crowd ever since."

The award brings DennyMike's medal count to well over 60. The line has received awards and accolades from folks in the know at the National BBQ Association, the Scovie Awards for Fiery Foods, The National BBQ News and the increasingly popular Getting' Sauced Competition in Austin, Texas, among others.

"It's always special to be recognized by the hometown crowd," said Dennis Sherman, DennyMike's creator. "New England is growing in its interest in authentic BBQ, and I'm proud to be a part of that!"

Along with the first annual Editors' Choice Food Awards, Yankee's "Holiday Food Guide" also features 36 delicious recipes from starters to sweets, including holiday cookies and feast-worthy Thanksgiving sides.
