Chef Norman Nichols to lead all culinary operations for Pascua Yaqui tribal gaming enterprises

 

TUCSON, Ariz. (Feb. 4, 2015) –Casino Del Sol Resort, Tucson’s premier entertainment destination, has appointed Norman Nichols as the resort’s new executive chef. In this role Chef Nichols will helm the kitchens and lead the culinary teams overseeing the operations at the resort’s nine restaurants including the Forbes Four Star and Wine Spectator award-winning PY Steakhouse, Ume, Tequila Factory, Festa International Buffet, Abuelita’s Taqueria, Moby’s, Streetscape Deli, Wildcats Grille and Sunflower Café (at Casino of the Sun, the resort’s sister property).

 

With more than 40 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Chef Nichols’ impressive resume includes serving as executive chef of multiple tribal gaming properties including the Paragon Casino Resort in Louisiana and Seneca Niagara Casino Hotel in New York. He also led the kitchens at Harrah’s Entertainment properties in Missouri and Louisiana. Prior to entering the gaming industry, Chef Nichols held a number of chef positions with some of the country’s most esteemed hospitality groups including Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts, Marriott Hotels, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Omni Hotels and Resorts, as well as Carnival Cruise Lines.

Chef Nichols’ culinary talents have taken him all over the world. In Hong Kong, he trained 300 chefs to cook American regional cuisine at the Omni Hong Kong Hotel, and he worked at the five-star hotel Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne, Switzerland. A graduate of the Pratt Institute in New York, Chef Nichols has also completed certification programs through Cornell University, Le Cordon Bleu Paris Cooking School and the Culinary Institute of America. He is also a proud member of the prestigious Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, the world’s oldest culinary society.
