Altamarea Group Brings Ristorante Morini To The Ues

NEW YORK CITY (December 17, 2013) - RISTORANTE MORINI, the seventh Manhattan restaurant from the Altamarea Group, opens today and brings a contemporary and more upscale Morini restaurant to the Upper East Side neighborhood. Located on Madison Avenue, the sleek interiors exude an understated elegance with a 130-seat upstairs dining room adorned with soft beige and caramel tones magnified by shapely FLOS chandeliers. Downstairs, Ristorante Morini showcases a vibrant bar and an additional 35 seats. Like Osteria Morini in SoHo, Ristorante Morini is a place to meet family, friends and new acquaintances in a convivial atmosphere.

RISTORANTE offers pan-Italian regional cuisine with a menu that covers various seasonal specialties, both inland and coastal. The broad range of cuisine covers traditional and modern influences, allowing Chef Michael White and his culinary team an open canvas from which to draw on their several years of collective Italian journeys.

Executive Chef Gordon Finn, a member of the Altamarea Group for the past five years, will be leading the kitchen with Chef Michael White. Finn previously helmed the two Michelin-starred Alto and also spent time in Italy and at Noma in Copenhagen. More recently, Gordon led several of the Altamarea Group openings in Europe and Asia. AMG Executive Pastry Chef Bob Truitt, winner of Food & Wine's Best New Pastry Chef 2013, leads the pastry team alongside Pastry Chef Rowan Johnson, who has worked with Gordon Ramsay at L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, before working at both Marea and Ai Fiori.
Wine Director Richard Anderson, formerly of Marea, will lead Ristorante Morini's wine program, which complements the depth and breadth of the menu, with support from Marea's Francesco Grosso and Altamarea Group Head Beverage Director Hristo Zisovski. Eben Freeman, Altamarea Group Head of Bar Operations and Head Bartender Tyson Buhler will manage Ristorante Morini's cocktail program.

Ristorante Morini's seasonal and regional influences can be seen throughout each course of the menu. Guests may begin with a selection of Caviars & Crudo and Antipasti such as Lumache or Marsala braised snails, Umbrian black truffle, almond milk sformato and Mare Nostrum saut´┐Ż of scallops, red shrimp, calamari, clams, sea beans, and lemon-colatura vinaigrette.
Signature to Altamarea Group style, Ristorante Morini's Primi Patti or pasta offerings are all handmade in house. Highlights include Paccheri cacio e pepe, salsa all'amatriciana, inspired by the Roman classic and Piedmontese inspired Agnolotti, beef shank ravioli, celery root, brasato sumo.
Piatti Principali offerings include Calamari E Gamberi, lobster filled calamari, poached prawns, acqua pazza brodetto, Nodino di Vitello, pan-roasted veal chop with cipollini onions, roasted endive, cracked pepper pancetta cream and Cervo venison and foie gras bauletti, savoy cabbage, grappa rosemary-roasted apple and polenta. Ending your meal with something sweet at Ristorante Morini could mean a delectable Baba, with apple confit, rum cider, spiced caramello gelato.

Ristorante Morini offers many private dining options for larger group events including three private rooms seating 20, 30 and 40 guests respectively, as well as cocktail reception capabilities in the first floor lounge.
