Al Tiramisu Restaurant Announces Participation in the James Beard Foundation's Taste America�
Local Dish Challenge

WHAT: Al Tiramisu, Washington DC's most authentic Italian Restaurant, has joined more than 100 other restaurants in the James Beard Foundation's (JBF) Taste America� Local Dish Challenge. Foodies nationwide can show their local pride by participating in this social media-driven competition, which is part of the James Beard Foundation's Taste America�: "Local Flavor from Coast to Coast," 10-city tour exploring America's diverse culinary diversity in Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., September 20 through October 19.

WHO: Award -Winning Chef Luigi Diotaiuti has chosen to feature Fresh Dupont Farmers' Market Swiss Chard Laganelle Pasta with Goat Ragu to showcase the best of their local food scene combining local ingredients with inspiration from his home region of Basilicata Italy in his restaurant, from September 1 through October 31, 2013. Al Tiramisu, which presented a dinner entitled "The Beauty of Basilicata" at the James Beard House earlier this year, will donate $1 from each dish sold to the JBF Taste America� Education Drive, which supports JBF's educational programs on topics surrounding our country's food system. These programs include the annual JBF Food Conference, JBF Leadership Awards, and new Chefs Boot Camp for Policy & Change.

HOW: Diners can support the JBF Taste America� Local Dish Challenge by following the below steps:

o Visit a participating restaurant between September 1 and October 31.

o Take a photo of the dish
o Post to Instagram with #JBFTasteamerica and the hashtag of your city.
 Example: "Just had this savory #jbftasteamerica dish from @lebernardin featuring delicious local produce in #NYC"
o Dine often and help a local food charity in your city win up to $10,000

ADDITIONAL FACTS: When the promotion concludes at 11:59pm EST on October 31st, 2013, the city with the most Instagram photo uploads will be declared the winner and receive a donation from JBF in the amount of $10,000 or 10% of the proceeds raised nationally, whichever is higher. In the 10 cities that are designated stops on the Taste America tour, the eligible charity has been pre-selected by JBF. In all other cities, the participating chefs will vote for their preferred charity, which will be announced by JBF once the challenge officially begins.
