    Dine Out for Japan: Restaurants Supporting Relief Efforts

    WHERE: Nobu & Matsuhisa Restaurants worldwide
    All Nobu and Matsuhisa Restaurants worldwide will donate a portion of the proceeds from a special omakase menu to a relief organization.


    Los Angeles
    WHERE: Takami
    Takami Sushi restaurant in Los Angeles is currently donating 100% of its proceeds to relief efforts in Japan. 

    San Francisco
    WHERE: Anzu
    WHEN: Through May
    Anzu is donating a portion of all sales to the American Red Cross’s Japan relief efforts.

    WHEN: Through May
    Japon restaurant owner Miki Hashimoto will be physically taking donations to Japan, from the Denver restaurant, in mid to late May. Miki will also transport a board with messages of encouragement and consolation written by Japon patrons for victims of the disaster. So far they have raised nearly $4000.

    District of Columbia

    WHERE: The Heights, Logan Tavern, grillfish, and Commissary DC
    WHEN: Through the end of April
    Eat Well DC will donate $1 to the Red Cross for each of its Facebook fans. Buy a bottle of wine in any of the Eat Well DC restaurants, and they will donate $2 to the Red Cross.

    WHERE: Quill at The Jefferson Hotel
    Half of the proceeds of all Hanami Hibiscus Cherry martinis ordered at Quill are being donated to the Red Cross.


    WHERE: Ai Japanese Restaurant and Lounge
    WHEN: Through the end of April
    Ai will donate all proceeds from dessert sales to the Japanese Red Cross.


    WHERE: Clio and Uni
    WHEN: April 17, 7pm advisory board member Chef Ken Oringer will host a fundraiser at Clio and Uni with Chef Ming Tsai of Blue Ginger, Michael Schlow of Radius and Via Matta, Tony Maws of Craigie on Main, 2009 Boston Rising Star Chef Jamie Bissonette [LINK] of Coppa and Chris Gould of Uni. Funds will go to the relief efforts in Japan.

    The Harvard Club
    WHEN:  May 18, 6:30pm to 9pm
    Chef Masaharu Morimoto is hosting a dine-around tasting with more than 10 celebrated chefs, including Marcus Samuelsson, Anita Lo, Ken Oringer, François Payard, and Jose Garces. 100 percent of the proceeds from ticket sales and a luxury live auction will go to the Japan Society.

    New York City
    WHERE: Hearth and Terroir
    Hearth will donate all proceeds from the sale of its original Yoshiyuki Nonaka cocktail (named for a line cook at Hearth) to Doctors Without Borders’ relief efforts in Japan. Terroir will donate proceeds from the sale of its Yoshi Fried Chicken, a.k.a. YFC, to the same organization.

    Izumi’s is collecting donations to the Red Cross to support relief efforts in Japan. Alternatively, you can add a donation when you pay your bill.
