After sipping drinks at Congress Cocktail (from ICC Presenters and Bartending Luminaries Derek Brown, Tad Carducci and Paul Tanguay, Juan Coronado, Meaghan Dorman, Theo Lieberman, Joy Raya, Audrey Saunders, Karin Stanley, and Clinton Terry), attendees stumbled across West Side Highway to Toro for this year’s Presenters After-Party. New to New York City—but old hats at ICC—Chefs Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonette hosted the event and stood guard from their open kitchen, cranking out a menu of modern Spanish tapas and welcoming New York to their just-opened restaurant.
To get to the chef’s station and the Jamón Ibérico, Australian Lamb Shoulder Sliders, Tom Ka Snails, and Baby Vegetable Paella, guests had to first attempt to make it past the packed bar serving cocktails that featured George Dickel Tennessee Whisky (official spirit of the StarChefs.com “Dickel Dance”) and Bulleit Bourbon—not to mention soft, savory, delicious, Australian lamb-covered chilaquiles that fortified a night of intoxicated mingling. And once party-goers made it past the bar (unlikely), they had to pass Clinton Terry’s impromptu porron station that invited guests to share a communal drink from a (highly sanitary) spout. Chugging encouraged.
And like any good NYC after-party someone had to mount a table—this time it wasn’t Daniel Humm. And though no Champagne was sprayed at the crowd, a spry guitarist pounded out a Spanish tune high above a rapt audience. Although most of the official flies-on-the-wall departed early for another early day at the SuperPier, the last of the editorial spies last spotted Emcee and Presenter Kevin Sbraga holding onto three drinks and hopefully lots of good memories of the raucous, chef-packed evening that was the ICC Presenters After-Party.
