Jonathan Sutton grew up near Washington’s Puget Sound surrounded by sustainable farms and people who appreciate natural foodways. After graduating from Johnson & Wales University, he spent time in respected kitchens around the country before moving to San Francisco to join the opening team of Michael Mina’s namesake flagship restaurant.

Cincinnatian Tony Ferrari was inspired to become a chef during his first kitchen job at 13. Later, the Johnson & Wales grad worked in Miami restaurants before heading to Europe and Thailand to study old world cooking and holistic farming. In San Francisco he cooked at Acquerello and the Velvet Room.

The former classmates linked up in 2013 to open Hillside Supper Club. The concept, which began as a pop-up for the chefs to showcase their seasonal, rustic cooking, quickly found a loyal following and, eventually, a permanent residence in San Francisco’s Bernal Heights neighborhood.
