Chef Steve Shienfield of Mizu Asian Bistro - Biography

Steve Shienfield was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He started working in his early teens in local kitchens and has never looked back. After completing his bachelor’s degree from Dalhousie University, Shienfield pursued his love of cooking at the Stratford Chefs School in Southwestern Ontario. Graduating with an honors degree and the alumni award for overall achievement, Shienfield went on to work in some of the most prestigious kitchens in Toronto, including Scaramouche, Mildred Pierce, Fat Cat, and The Spoke Club. Shienfield has traveled extensively throughout the globe, helping shape his culinary style and technique. At just 26, Shienfield opened his own catering business in Toronto, but when the tropical climate of Grand Cayman came calling, he found the opportunity too hard to resist. On the island, he helped launch the success of Duke’s Seafood and Rib Shack, The Waterfront Urban Diner, Mizu Asian Bistro, Fidel Murphy’s, and Craft Food & Beverage Co.
