Chef Sam Ratto of Videri Chocolate Factory - Biography
Sam Ratto first began his career in the food industry as a dishwasher, later taking on roles as a server and prep cook. In 2009, he moved with his wife, Starr, to Raleigh, North Carolina, where he started work in a local bean-to-bar chocolate factory. His experience there taught him the science of chocolate making, but also awakened his vision and passion for creating organic, fair trade chocolate. Together with longtime friend Chris Heavener, Ratto left the factory to start a company of his own, Videri Chocolate Factory. Built inside a warehouse, Videri reflects Ratto’s attention to detail and appreciation for the craft and artistry of chocolate making.
