Rising Star Restaurateur Pierre Touzet of Patois - Biography

New Orleans, LA

March 2012

For New Orleans restaurateur Pierre Touzet, being part of the culinary business seems to run in his blood. His grandfather lived and apprenticed in the Pau Region of France before moving to New Orleans to work in some of the city’s best restaurants. In 2007, Pierre and his brother Leon were able to carry on the family tradition when they started Patois with long-time friend and accomplished NOLA chef Aaron Burgau. The restaurant applies classic French treatment to fresh, local ingredients with a healthy savor of patois, or local accent. Patois was awarded four beans by the Times-Picayune and has received recognition from Food & Wine and the James Beard Foundation. In 2012, Pierre earned the StarChefs.com New Orleans Rising Star Restaurateur award, along with Leon and Burgau, for their most recent venture, Trūburger. In both restaurants, Pierre’s focus is providing excellent front-of-house service to diners.
