Chef Leyton Ashley of Terroir at Craggy Range Winery - Biography

Leyton Ashley has been working in the kitchen at Hawkes Bay's Terroir at Craggy Range for the last five years. In 2009 he was promoted to the position of head chef and he currently works alongside Chef David Griffiths, who was head chef when the restaurant opened its doors in 2002 and recently returned to consult on with the restaurant. For Ashley, the focus in the kitchen is on the freshest seasonal and local produce. "It's all about quality French country cuisine with a slightly more contemporary approach," says Ashley. Terroir at Craggy Range was voted Winery Restaurant of the Year by Cuisine Magazine in 2009. More recently, Terroir at Craggy Range is one of four finalists up for Grande Gourmet Outstanding Restaurant in the 2010 Hawke's Bay Hospitality Awards.
