Vintner Lamberto Frescobaldi of Marchesi de' Frescobaldi - Biography

July, 2012

Lamberto Frescobaldi represents the 30th generation of a renowned Tuscan winegrowing family. His life’s work has been the revitalization of the family’s notable portfolio of agricultural estates, from the point of view both of their products as well as of their financial performance.

Frescobaldi showed an obvious enthusiasm for agriculture even in his childhood, and in 1987, after earning his degree in Crop Sciences at the University of Florence, he took up advanced studies in Viticulture at the University of California at Davis.
His official duties in the family business commenced in 1989, and four years later, in November 1993, his uncle Carlo Marchi entrusted him with the directorship of the venerable I Collazzi tenuta near Florence.

In 1995, the Frescobaldi and Mondavi families joined forces to produce Luce della Vita, with Frescobaldi and Tim Mondavi sharing winemaking responsibilities and direction. In 2000, he was named Managing Director of Conti Attems S.r.l., one of Friuli-Venezia Giulia’s leading producers of white wine, which the family had acquired.

In 2005, he assumed the position of Managing Director of the Tenute di Castelgiocondo in Montalcino, one of the most prestigious producers of Brunello, and soon after became President of both Tenute di Castelgiocondo and of the Luce della Vite.

Since February 2002, he has served as President of the Società Vigneti di Nugola S.r.l., an innovative wine estate on the Tuscan coast, a joint venture between the Marchi and Frescobaldi families. Since September 2007, he has served as Vice President of the Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi Società Agricola S.r.l., with special responsibility for overall production and for land and resources management.
