Wine Director Kathryn Weil of Rustic Canyon Wine Bar - Biography

Kathryn Weil’s first foray into the food and beverage industry was flipping burgers at the on-campus diner of the University of Notre Dame. After completing a degree in English, she moved to New York and landed a job as a server at August Restaurant in the West Village. To her surprise, she loved waiting tables, learning about old-world wines, and enjoying tarte flambée. But her true love (California wine) brought her to Los Angeles. She turned her passion for wine into knowledge, taking classes at the UCLA Vintage program. She then worked as wine director of Rustic Canyon Wine Bar and Seasonal Kitchen and Milo&Olive, both in Santa Monica, California.
