Pastry Chef Kasra Ajdari of Patina - Biography

Los Angeles , CA

August 2012

Born and raised in Southern California, Kasra Ajdari’s passion for food and cooking was cultivated in his home kitchen under the guidance of his parents and grandparents. While other interests came and went, cooking was a constant love.

Ajdari initially planned to become an attorney, studying law in college. But he began baking bread at home on the weekends, and by his senior year, he was spending more time sourcing ingredients and equipment than in class. To further engage his interest in baking, Ajdari attended the California School of Culinary Arts, where he was fascinated with plated desserts.

While still in school, a mutual friend introduced Ajdari to Adam Horton, then executive chef at Saddle Peak Lodge in Malibu Canyon. That introduction lead to not only a friendship, but a working relationship that lasted nearly three years, as Ajdari served as Horton’s pastry chef at both Saddle Peak Lodge and later at Raphael Restaurant in Studio City. In February 2012, Ajdari moved onto the position of pastry chef at Patina, in the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles.
