Brewer Joel Iverson of Monday Night Brewing - Biography
Self-styled Taste-Testing Ninja Joel Iverson claims he can speak pirate and brew great beer. We’ll take his word on the former, and are sold on the latter. But brewing was his sort of second coming. At first Iverson focused on more monetary interests, graduating with a degree in economics from the University of Virginia. After spending five years at an Atlanta-based corporation managing wellness brands, helping the company grow from 20 employees to more than 300, he took a job as a direct marketing consultant with more than $100 million in consumer sales. Perhaps it was on those marketing jobs that he picked up some of his so called pirate speak.
But he quickly realized that marketing wasn’t his true calling, and turned to beermaking. Meeting a crew of men with similar interests at a bible study group, Iverson helped found Monday Night Brewing dedicated to the nine-to-fiver who wants a good beer at the end of the day. Brewing up batches in his own backyard, Iverson understands the importance of loosening up after a long day, which is why he helped craft Monday Night’s slogan (“weekends are overrated”).
