Los Gatos, CA

April 2012

Jeff Bareilles is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, attending The Christian Brothers, Saint Mary’s College when he first became interested in wine. He didn’t dive in immediately. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles and then to New York to study photography and fine art, gaining his Masters of Fine Arts from CALARTS and admission to the Whitney Museum of American Art Independent Study Program. Like many students, he worked in restaurants to support his studies, and it was during this time that his experience in wine and food merged with his interests in the arts.

Today, Bareilles is considered one of the region’s most innovative sommeliers, pairing unique wines with daring cuisine. As wine director at Manresa, he has obtained particular notoriety for selecting wines that compliment vegetables. Bareilles has been featured in Wine Spectator and Forbes magazine and is a regular contributor to Sommelier Journal. His expertise and efforts have earned Manresa Wine Spectator’s “Best of Award” for Excellence for four consecutive years.
