Rising Star Chef Jason Licker of JW Marriott Hong Kong - Biography

Pastry Chef Jason Licker fell in love with pastry early on. His passion led him to study at the Valrhona Chocolate School, Chicago’s French Pastry School, and the Chocolate Loft in New York City. After finishing his schooling and landing a position at Jean Georges, Licker secured his first pastry chef position at Metrazur in Miami—at just 23 years old. From there, he moved to Miami’s Shore Club and Nobu, where he worked under Pastry Chef Kim O’Flaherty. Licker spent a short two years in Miami before returning to New York to serve as pastry chef at the Peninsula New York, a position that earned him a 2002 StarChefs.com Rising Stars Award.

On the move again, Licker accepted a position at the Five Star Westin Bund Center in Shanghai, China, where he oversaw eight outlets, a tremendous outside catering program, and a 32-person pastry staff. In 2007, Licker rejoined the Nobu staff, overseeing pastry for Nobu in San Diego, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.

In 2008, Licker, again, felt the pull of the East and accepted an offer to run the pastry program at The Venetian Macao Resort and Hotel. He currently runs the pastry program at the five-star JW Marriott Hong Kong.
